Farmer and his son
The Farmer and His Sons Once there lived an old farmer who had several sons. His sons were strong and hardworking, but they were always quarrelling with one another. The farmer was very worried because there was no unity among them. One day, the farmer fell seriously ill. He called his sons to his bedside and gave each of them a stick. He asked them to break the sticks one by one. Each son easily broke his stick. Then the farmer tied all the sticks together in a bundle and asked his sons to break the bundle. They tried their best, but none of them could break it. The farmer smiled and said, “My sons, if you live in unity, no one can harm you. But if you remain divided, you will be broken easily, just like these single sticks.” The sons understood their mistake. They promised their father that they would live together in peace and unity. From that day on, they stopped quarrelling and worked together happily.
